Siddhagiri Krishi Mahotsav 2026 Highlights Natural Farming and Indigenous Cow Conservation in Maharashtra
Siddhagiri Krishi Mahotsav 2026 held in Kolhapur, Maharashtra showcased natural farming practices, indigenous cow breeds, and sustainable agriculture technologies, attracting farmers, students, and agri-experts from across the region.
The Siddhagiri Krishi Mahotsav 2026 was organized from 15 to 17 February at the campus of Siddhagiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra located at Kaneri Math in Kolhapur district, Maharashtra. The three-day agricultural festival brought together farmers, agricultural scientists, rural entrepreneurs, and students to promote sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices. The event served as a major platform for sharing knowledge on natural farming methods and strengthening awareness about low-cost, environment-friendly agricultural techniques.
A major highlight of the Mahotsav was the large-scale demonstration of natural farming practices aligned with the principles of the National Mission on Natural Farming. Experts demonstrated preparation of bio-inputs, natural fertilizers, and plant protection solutions made from locally available resources. Farmers were educated on reducing chemical dependency and improving soil health through traditional methods such as Jeevamrut, Beejamrut, mulching, and crop diversification.
The exhibition of indigenous cow breeds attracted significant attention, with more than 250 native cattle displayed during the event. Livestock experts explained the importance of conserving indigenous breeds for their adaptability, disease resistance, and contribution to natural farming systems. Sessions were conducted on improving milk productivity, animal nutrition, and the role of cow-based inputs in sustainable agriculture.
Apart from livestock and crop demonstrations, the Mahotsav featured interactive sessions, farmer-scientist discussions, and awareness programs for women self-help groups and rural youth. Agri-entrepreneurship opportunities in dairy farming, vermicomposting, and value-added farm products were also showcased. The event encouraged farmers to explore integrated farming models combining crops, livestock, and allied activities to improve income stability.
Overall, Siddhagiri Krishi Mahotsav 2026 reinforced Maharashtra’s growing emphasis on sustainable agriculture and rural development. By blending traditional knowledge with scientific guidance, the festival provided practical exposure and inspired farmers to adopt cost-effective, climate-resilient farming systems. Such initiatives are expected to contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability and stronger rural livelihoods across the state.
