Maharashtra Extends Rabi E-Pik Pahani Deadline to March 31; Essential for Crop Insurance and Government Aid
The Maharashtra government has extended the deadline for Rabi season 2025-26 'E-Pik Pahani' (digital crop survey) to March 31, 2026. This extension allows more farmers to register their crop data online to ensure eligibility for insurance and future compensation.
In a significant relief for the farming community across the state, the Maharashtra government has officially extended the deadline for the Rabi season 2025-26 E-Pik Pahani (Digital Crop Survey). Farmers now have until March 31, 2026, to complete the online registration of their crop data through the official mobile application. This decision comes after several farmer organizations requested more time due to technical glitches in the app and busy harvesting schedules in many districts.
The E-Pik Pahani project is a vital digital initiative that allows farmers to self-report their crop information directly into the 7/12 land records. This process is mandatory for several government benefits, including the settlement of Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) claims and the procurement of crops at Minimum Support Prices (MSP). Without a verified digital entry of the current crop, farmers often face hurdles in claiming compensation for unseasonal rains or pest attacks.
The extension is particularly crucial for farmers in regions like Marathwada and Vidarbha, where the late-Rabi sowing was affected by fluctuating winter temperatures. By providing an additional two weeks, the state administration aims to achieve 100% digital verification of the cultivated area, ensuring that no eligible farmer is left out of the government’s financial safety net. District administrations have been instructed to assist farmers through local 'Chavdis' and Krishi Sevaks to speed up the process.
Technically, the E-Pik Pahani app requires farmers to upload GPS-tagged photos of their standing crops. This transparent method has significantly reduced errors in land records and helped the government plan more accurate irrigation and supply-chain logistics. However, farmers are advised not to wait until the final day (March 31) to avoid potential server congestion on the portal.
As the deadline approaches, the Revenue and Agriculture departments are working in tandem to raise awareness in rural pockets. Completing the E-Pik Pahani is not just a regulatory requirement but a proactive step for farmers to secure their seasonal investment against unforeseen natural calamities.
